A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR MATT

A FLOURISHING CHURCH IN AN AGE OF DECLINE

Central is a flourishing church of deep disciples of Jesus in a moment of significant dechurching and faith deconstruction. What are we to make of that fact and what are we to do in light of it?

First, 2023 was a phenomenal year at Central, by a myriad of metrics — and God deserves all the glory! What a comfort it is that Jesus said He would build His Church (Matt. 16:18) and two thousand years of church history are a testament to that. And yet that does not mean that every local church flourishes. In fact, it is estimated that more than 9000 places of worship across Canada will close by 2029 — that’s roughly a third of all church buildings in our nation. In their book, The Great Dechurching, Jim Davis and Michael Graham explain that we are experiencing the largest and fastest religious shift in North American history. 2023 ANNUAL REPORT

One of the things that the Bible does is remind us of God’s grace in the past, which is also a way of encouraging us to trust in Him in the future. The purpose of our Annual Report is two-fold: First, to celebrate the life-transformation that has happened at Central this past year. Second, to challenge us to look ahead to 2024 with the prayer and expectation that God will do even greater things in our midst.

You can view the Annual Report below using the arrows to scroll between pages or click 'Read Now' to enter full screen mode. Alternatively the Annual Report is also available for download as a PDF.
