Equipped To Counsel

Biblical counselling is gospel-centered, rooted in Scripture, and led by the Holy Spirit. It helps individuals find wisdom and truth in God’s Word, offering hope through Jesus Christ. While our circumstances may not change, the gospel transforms our hearts and perspectives.

Biblical counselling interprets the complexity of human struggles through the lens of Scripture while considering holistic care for both body and soul. While Scripture remains our foundation, we also recognize the value of common grace findings of research and psychology in informing care methods.

Biblical counsellors, equipped by God’s gifts and skills, serve as instruments of His work. They are led by the Holy Spirit, our ultimate Counsellor.

PROFESSIONAL COUNSELLING

Central is in the process of establishing a Professional Counselling Center where individuals can meet with master’s-level biblical counsellors for deeper support. If you are, or are becoming, a professional biblical counsellor and are interested in finding out more, please reach out to Gabriela@centralcommunity.ca.

For those seeking referral to professional counselling now, please contact the Church Office.

EQUIPPED FOR MINISTRY

Our goal is to equip both leaders and congregants for personal discipleship and intentional helping relationships that point people to Jesus. We seek to cultivate a church culture where individuals are trained to listen well, respond with love, and offer care rooted in the hope of Christ.

EQUIPPED TO COUNSEL

We view biblical counselling as an extension of personal discipleship. Jesus’ Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20) calls believers to make disciples, guiding them in truth and applying biblical wisdom to all areas of life.

Central is launching an Equipped to Counsel training initiative in September 2025. This eight-month training will take place every other Thursday at Central Community Church (Chilliwack campus) and will utilize the “Equipped to Counsel” curriculum from the Association of Biblical Counselors. The course requires approximately five hours per week, including reading and writing assignments.

This program is ideal for those seeking to enhance their ability to provide biblical care through discipleship, mentoring, and counselling. Participants who complete the course may pursue certification in biblical counselling and could be invited to join Central’s Care Team.

Applications close Friday, August 15
